What Is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is the branch of oral care that focuses on aligning your child’s teeth and correcting their bite, all of which can contribute to improved oral health. Most orthodontic treatments involve conventional braces, retainers, or clear aligners, such as Invisalign.
The Children’s Dental Centre does not directly offer orthodontic services, but we do work with our partner practice just next door, The Orthodontic Dental Centre. If your child has any orthodontic needs, please let us know and we will refer you to our partner practice, where you will receive the same level of care that we provide.

Many people seek orthodontic treatment for cosmetic reasons, but there are many other potential benefits to orthodontic treatment, especially for your children.
The potential benefits include:
- Improved oral health
- Speech improvement
- More self-confidence
- Prevention of dental trauma
- Proper bite alignment for enhanced chewing

When Should My Child Start Orthodontics?
We suggest starting orthodontics for your child early. We recommend bringing your child to their first orthodontic visit when they turn 7. It is likely your child will not need any treatment at that age, but it is a good time to start monitoring their teeth closely so we can identify what treatments may be needed in the future.
